Hello ! Bonjour !
My name is Ekaterina. I’m an artist based in Soissons, France.

Art is my passion and has always been since I entered the Hermitage School of Arts when I was a child.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bard College, New York (Film and Electronic Arts) and Master of Arts degree from St.Petersburg State University ( Arts and Humanities. Art criticism).

My university studies involved different courses on history of art, curatorial studies, art criticism and contemporary art, fine art photography, design and others. Throughout those university years and then during the decade of work in the field of art, I’ve never stopped creating art…

In my illustration and paper mache works I like to combine my love of whimsy and texture. Fairy tales and folk art is my special source of inspiration.

My go to materials are watercolors, acrylic and gouache paints, paper mache, ink, and sometimes autumn dried leaves and flowers. When I make “paintings” of dried leaves I use leaves instead of paint. I love the process and the idea that these leaves have been given a second life in my artworks.

I design and make everything in my home studio- the smallest room of our house. From my studio window I can see the old roof tops of a little French town, hills and windmills…

I have one studio assistant dog named Barrymore – full time dog, part time art lover. Sometimes she plays the role of my muse.

Thank you for your interest in my art. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy making it.
